Auditioning for NECS
Frequently asked audition questions
  1. How many singers are in the group? About 40. It varies from year to year.
  2. Are you auditioning all voice parts? Yes.
  3. Will there be solo opportunities from within the choir? Sometimes. We hire professional soloists for big pieces, but we also use soloists from within the group.
  4. What is the format of the audition? You don't need to prepare an audition piece. David will listen to you sing through your range and ask you to sing middle notes of chords to test your pitch. He'll also give you something to sight-read. It's usually about a 15-minute audition.
  5. Will I have a specific time slot? Yes, someone from the membership committee will contact you to arrange an appointment.
